Annie Karto, Matthew Baute. I personally know both of these fine artists. Beautiful music and singing. Both have written some of their own songs and arrangements.
As a mom of teens - I've had the amazing blessing of meeting and working with teens in confirmation and a teen encounter program that is out of this world. We had the chance talk to the kids about the media they listen to. We encourage them to seek out Artists with a positive message. As an extension of that, my husband and I made a couple of discoveries that might help you out in your quest for Catholic Music. First, there are two websites that list all catholic artists: www.CatholicMusicNetwork.com and www.spiritandsong.com . You can listen to, and buy on both of these sights. Then, there is this great list that I originally saw somewhere else, on a catholic website that is is down for a while, - but there is a derivation of it here: http://www.turnlife.net/music.php - It's a positive music list. You can basically look for the secular artists who's sound you like and then look for a christian band that would have a similar sound and try them out. We take the list to pandora radio. (www.pandora.com) Have you heard of that? You can use that website to try out music - you tell it a few ideas of what you want to listen to and then it takes it from there. You give the site feedback, song by song, about what you like and don't like and it tailors a "station" that you create to appeal to you. Once you've done it a while, you start to recognize what artists you like. I am a huge fan of Jeremy Camp and Third Day - not catholic, but the music is beautiful, inspired, reflect a tremendous love of God - and gets me moving. I put it on my MP3 and my time at the gym or behind the vacuum cleaner just flies bye! I also love Casting Crowns, Mercy Me and Chris Tomlin. I also love Matt Maher - my kids saw him at Soulfest last summer and said he was great. Also - for just beautiful, reflective, calm music - Michael John Poirier is absolutely excellent!!! And the story about him and his family ministry is amazing... Then there is Rebecca St. James - such a lovely voice - I love her song "Breathe"... Try those sites! You'll find something you like!
