Where are your bags going: Trash or Good Will? 14 Replies

I was wondering what folks are doing with their bags?  I have made four so far (pathetic, I know), but I can't decide whether to just throw stuff out or to give it to some sort of good will.  I worry…Continue

Yikes! My 40 bags in 40 days has been hijacked! I was off to a great start when 2 weeks ago my main floor wash machine broke down and flooded a good portion of the house. The end result is a dry…Continue

I just found this site last week and this particular group today! We are in the process of rearranging bedrooms to give our teenager her own room. We have at least 4 bags to donate to goodwill by the end of the week if not more!

We took a bunch of bags to Goodwill in the city this past weekend. When we got back from our vacation a lot of the snow had melted off so I took the opportunity to walk around outside and came up with a bag of trash. It was mostly broken kids toys, old dog toys, fencing stuff, etc. I am caught up with 26 bags done after 26 days, and just looking around outside I have tons more to do out there with things to get rid of both to the dump and to charity. We are supposed to get a lot more snow though so I will have to keep my fingers crossed!

Make this a bagging weekend! Commit to ridding your home of two bags of stuff over the next two days.

Get bagging and then get bragging ... come back here and let us know how you are doing!

It is only 11:30 am and I am done with my bag for the day! I bravely ventured into the smaller of our two sheds and got a whole bag of stuff for charity. I know there is so much more between the two sheds. It is snowing now though and tomorrow is another day.

I got one more bag Saturday of kitchen stuff, clothes, coats, and miscellaneous stuff for charity. I am at 19. I actually have two bikes we are going to give to charity too that I was going to count as one bag a piece because they are so big. I haven't counted them in my number of bags yet because they are still sitting outside, so until they are loaded up for charity I won't count them.

I joined late because I started late. I knew I would get behind if I tried to keep up with this. But I just purged three bags! I wonder...can I/will I meet this challenge after all?

We certainly have enough to get rid of. Papers, trash, old toys, papers, clothes, papers... My guess is that I average about 1 hour per trash bag. I think I will have to enlist the kids, and if we get our forty bags then I will take us all out for ice cream on Easter Monday!

That is a great idea about the pictures! It will satisfy them for now and when they get older they will have a picture to laugh about how attached they were to the stuffed animals. I have a few of those pictures from when I was young and I always think, "what was I thinking!"

Yesterday I started on the kitchen and got on bag for charity so far. Today I got three bags of trash from my car! I am so embarrassed. It was mostly goldfish crackers, fruit snacks, etc.!

Umm, Kathy A., could you come over to my house and pack 38 bags for me?

:)

Finished a bag of toys this afternoon. I made the girls go through their stuffed animals. There were tears about giving any of them away but our rule is they all have to fit in the "stuffed animals" container. I also let them know if they don't give any away there will not be room in the container for future Webkinz! My son came up with a good idea to help the girls part with some of them. He told them to take a picture of the ones they were giving away so they would always remember them. We thought he had a great idea here!

I got three done today so I am up to 12! I cleaned out around our computer desk and in our closet and I got one bag for charity, one bag of trash and one box of papers, magazines, etc. to take to the recycling center.
