"How sweet! I totally understand. We adopted after 7 1/2 years of infertility and then were blessed with two boys born to us (7 years apart). I look at the large families around us and wish I had a large brood. Then I thank God for our three and look…"

Cathy Donahue replied to Mary R's discussion Does anyone have a child who gets a lot of nosebleeds?
"TOTALLY! Everyone in my family has frequent nosebleeds. With us it is allergy related. Me, my brothers, my Dad, my cousins, we all get them. We combat ours with allergy medicine. Mostly it's spring pollen related, though sometimes we get them…"

More Communion of Saints, please!

I recently found myself sucked into the vortex known as genealogy. It started innocently enough. My husband and I had been discussing what to do for our 25th anniversary next year. With our second child starting Catholic high school then, we’ll be lucky to afford pizza out, let alone a big trip, but I immediately thought of Cong, Ireland. My husband’s family is from there. In case you aren’t familiar with it, watch “The Quiet Man” with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Who wouldn’t want to be from…See More

Lucy Sheahan replied to Cathy Donahue's discussion The Big Picture?
"My oldest two are Juniors this year, so I feel the "time running out" too. Our experience is that teens will listen during times of non-conflict. That means trying to make weekly lunch or coffee dates. For the "big talk" we have…"

The Big Picture?

Our oldest is a freshman in high school. I worry that I am so bogged down in day to day life that I am not really preparing my kids to go out on their own. We have 3 short years left with our oldest. I feel like we have so much more to teach her before she goes off to college.  I'm really concerned about big picture questions like faith, work, choosing a vocation. Does anyone else feel like this? If you have older kids, how do you (or how did you) make time to talk about these questions with…See More

Declaration of Nullity

My husband's youngest sister is engaged. She and her fiance are waiting for a declaration of nullity from his prior marriage to be able to move forward with their wedding plans. Unfortunately, they have encountered some bumps in the road. Her frustration with the people managing the process is spilling over. In a moment of anger, she mentioned leaving the Church over this. Could I ask your prayers for her and her fiance, that they will persevere in faith? Could I also for prayers for the people…See More
