Monica Simpson Have compassion, not indignation

Maybe its having a 3rd child that is incredibly cute.  I don't know.  Lately, I've had more women open up to me that they would like another child/more children but that their spouse does not want any.

This goes for Catholic and non-Catholic women, alike.  And the majority of them do not have husbands 'unselfishly' getting a vasectomy.  Oh no, they are the ones on some sort of pill or implant.  They are the ones dealing with the side effects.  Some have been told they should…

Tonya Baker Breathe.......

It's funny how a voluntary action such as breathing can become a focus for me but it's true....breathe Tonya, breathe...is a constant these days. With the overwhelming ever present thoughts of another deployment (1 year later from returning from deployment) and homeschooling, 4 kids and being in a big city (to which I haven't yet found my comfy place) I am at that place.......God are you with me? God can I do this, again? God I beg for your peace and strength to do this and keep my head…

Jessica Hoffman EWTN and the Novena to the Holy Spirit?

We were unable to go to Mass this morning, so we were watching the daily Mass on EWTN.  During the Gospel, they brought up praying a 9 day novena to the Holy Spirit from June 4-12 as we prepare for the Ascension.  He wanted us to pray that the Holy Spirit works in our own life in a special way and he also wanted us to pray that the Holy Spirit works in our own churches.  He asked for specific prayer in 3 areas...more Divine and biblical teachings, pure and chaste clergy and laity (meaning that… Continue

Susan DiParisi Anger Management is Improving with New Approach and More Babies!

Dear Ladies,

I write to you with great news!  Three things have contributed to my increased calm and patience in our home.  1) I have been working on my anger management issues through prayer about the specific problem area with the child, regular journaling/reflecting about how I handle the problem area and then practicing the improved way of parenting that I've deducted from the former. (I try to journal at the end of the day about how the day with the kids went well or…

Monica Simpson The Me-Time conundrum

And my husband is only half joking when he says I am open to life for the 2 day vacation, er, hospital stay, I get with a new baby.

I don't recall my mother or grandmother ever leaving us with dad to spend 2 hours at the local Starbucks.  I do not remember aunts and mom going on that monthly 'night out' .  My siblings and I never were in childcare while mom met weekly with others like her at church.  These ladies - for lack of 'liberated husbands' and money - did not have…

Elena LaVictoire Simple Woman

Repost from my blog My Domestic Church

Outside my window...

It is dark and dreary and looks like fall instead of spring.  There is a wind starting and a little lightening.  They say we are in for a high wind warning, which always worries me because of the trees that are so close to the front of my house!

I am… Continue

Geralyn Koehler Snack Ideas for Holy Week

I signed up for snacks during Holy Week for my son's kindergarten class.  I am looking for lenten snack ideas for that week.  I've come up with crown of thorn cookies (sugar cookie rolled into a circle with little chinese noodles sticking out) and purple grapes on toothpicks to make a cross shape.  Any other ideas?

Lesa Tines Big Family Envy

I have big family envy.

That probably sounds crazy but it’s true. I see a family of six, seven or eight kids and all I can think about is how I wish my family were that big. I long for a super-size family.

Unfortunately, the ideas I had for my life haven’t worked out the way I planned. After having two beautiful, healthy children my husband and I suffered fertility problems. Our next two pregnancies ended with stillborn daughters.

A variety of doctors gave us few…

Stacy Mitch Celebrate the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter

Tuesday 2/22  is the feast of the Chair of St. Peter!  What do we celebrate on this day?  Are we celebrating the relic of a physical chair?

No, not really.  We are not even sure that the relic contained within an awesome structure built by Bernini and located at St. Peter’s…

Diane Tucholski Beautifing Your Home In The Winter . . .

Now in the heart of winter, we are spending so much of our time as family indoors, it is now more important than ever to be conscious of the atmosphere that we are creating in our homes. Be mindful to create a warm, inviting atmosphere for those we love. In how we create the mood in our home by our own…

Ed. C. L. D. Be Still - Overcome Problems Related to Alcohol
